The path is dark
\nthrough twisted trees
\nwhere bracken trips
\nand rips the knees<\/p>\n
Where all the heart
\nin shadows lay
\nwith silence from
\nthe birds and bees.
\nDarkness drapes
\nfrom every thing
\nand gathers mistily below
\nthe places most men
\npale have seen
\nand where many
\nhave entrapped been.
\nComes a brightness,<\/p>\n
blazing sword
\nwielded by a winged one
\nfollowed by a spearman lone
\nas swordfolk follow
\nhis baritone.
\nSilence broken by a song
\npiercing as the light of day,
\nand behind this fearless throng
\none walks emitting shining ray.<\/p>\n
Though there is burning
\non the air
\ndeeply breathing they do come.
\nThe darkling things
\ngather close
\nto watch what may now
\nbe undone.<\/p>\n
Small the band
\nbut great the heart,
\nblessed beings
\nbrutal art,
\ncome to lay the darkness down.<\/p>\n
Michael’s brond
\na blazing bears
\nthe slaughter lighted
\nall around.
\nThose gathered
\nknow not their true names,
\nbut know their purpose
\nhere is found.<\/p>\n
The Spearman knows how to command
\nThe Singer pushes darkness back
\nThe Swordfolk long have fought this band
\nThe Light a beacon in this foul black.<\/p>\n
Not a one of us is pure
\nHuman, fallen, each unsure
\nBless us each as we rest
\ngive us peace while we can
\nhelp us learn what path is best
\nto slay the darkness that hunts man.<\/p>\n
Tales speak of the end in light
